Uganda
From the misty highlands above Sipi Falls, roasted small-batch to honor every note — this is the rare single origin cup that turns your morning into a moment worth remembering.
The Source
Uganda is one of coffee's best-kept secrets — and the Sipi, Kapchorwa District is where that secret reaches its peak. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda, the Kapchorwa District sits at a remarkable 1,500 to 2,500 meters above sea level — one of the highest coffee-growing altitudes in all of Africa. At this elevation, the air is cool, the nights are cold, and the coffee cherries ripen slowly, concentrating sugars and building the kind of layered complexity that lower-altitude coffees simply cannot achieve.
The varietals grown here are a distinguished trio of Bourbon-lineage cultivars: SL14, SL28, and Blue Mountain. These are not commodity varieties — they are among the most respected cultivars in specialty coffee.
SL14 was selected by Scott Laboratories in Kenya for its drought tolerance and clean, bright cup character. SL28 — arguably the most celebrated of the Scott Lab selections — is renowned for producing exceptional cup quality with pronounced fruit complexity and a distinctive winey depth. Blue Mountain, originally from Jamaica's famous Blue Mountain region, contributes a refined, balanced sweetness and a smooth, mild body that rounds out the blend of varietals beautifully.
After harvest, the cherries are fully washed — pulped, fermented, and thoroughly cleaned — then sun dried, allowing the beans to develop their character slowly under natural light. This combination of process and altitude produces a cup that is clean, transparent, and expressive: every note in the cup is a direct reflection of the origin.
The Craft
A coffee this distinctive deserves a roast that gets out of its way. We roast our Uganda small-batch, in quantities small enough to maintain full control over every variable — airflow, drum speed, heat application, and development time — from the moment the beans enter the drum to the moment they leave it.
Our roast profile for this coffee is developed specifically to honor its floral and dark fruit character while preserving the light body and mild acidity that make it so approachable. We roast to the precise point where the SL28's fruit complexity opens up, the Blue Mountain's sweetness comes forward, and the floral aromatics are fully expressed — without tipping into roast flavors that would mask what the origin has to offer.
Every batch is evaluated before it ships. This coffee earns its place in our lineup.
