The Source
A flavored coffee is only as good as the bean underneath it. Our Caramel is built on a foundation of specialty grade single origin coffee — beans that score 80+ on the SCA scale, sourced from carefully selected lots where altitude, climate, and soil converge to produce something genuinely exceptional before flavoring ever enters the picture.
The reason the base bean matters: caramel flavoring amplifies what's already in the cup. A low-quality base produces a flat, one-note sweetness. A specialty grade base produces a cup where the caramel's buttery richness integrates with the coffee's own natural sweetness and body — creating a layered, satisfying cup that is indulgent without being cloying. Single origin means full traceability. You know exactly where your cup comes from, and so do we.
The Craft
Every bag of Caramel starts in our small-batch roaster, where precision is non-negotiable. We roast in limited quantities — never scaled beyond what we can control — to a smooth medium roast that preserves the bean's natural sweetness while developing the gentle caramelization that makes this coffee the ideal canvas for a caramel profile. The roast and the flavoring are designed to work together — the medium roast's own caramelized sugar notes amplify and extend the flavoring rather than competing with it.
Immediately after the roast, while the beans are still warm and their surface pores are fully open, we apply high-quality, all-natural caramel flavoring oils directly to the bean. This isn't a coating — it's absorption. The warmth draws the flavor deep into the bean's structure, creating an integration that is aromatic, layered, and consistent from the first brew to the last scoop in the bag.
The result is a sweet, buttery caramel character that feels like it belongs in the cup — because it does.
